22 years ago today, my favorite album of all time was released. i waited in line for the midnight sale @ rhino records in claremont, CA (where i went to college) and then went to my friend jonah’s house, off campus, to listen. we had it on repeat until dawn. ’achtung baby’ changed my life. it blew my mind that hard. it felt like a film. “every artist is a cannibal / every poet is a thief / all kill their inspiration / then sing about their grief.” i mean, seriously, the whole record is filled with lines that kill THAT hard. people love to hate on u2, but people are assholes. music is truth. so, go listen for yourself. i recommend headphones, and i recommend listening to it all in one sitting. give it the attention it deserves, it’s worth it. bravo u2! and happy birthday ‘achtung baby’!
