the record was done with my friend Butch Walker right before, then right in the throes of, lockdown. i went home from his studio one weekend & didn’t go back again for a year & 1/2. twilight zone-city.
i’ve never made a real "singer/songwriter” record like this... a nod to my favorites: paul simon, cat stevens, indigo girls, joni, carole king… i wanted it to be a VIBE... something you could put on and listen to top to bottom, with big focus on the lyrics.
we’ve pulled together some rad, LIMITED EDITION BOSTON ACCENT pre-sale bundles… PINK VINYL❤️!!
and the vinyl / CD have 2 totally different covers & layouts.
we've also made some killer merch items and a lithograph… all the things!
not only is 2022 the year i FINALLY release my new album BOSTON ACCENT (july 29th, baby!) but it's also the 15th anniversary of my album SOME MAD HOPE?! crazy, right?!

it was dreamed up by the insanely talented bill long of moss moon studio, who i’ve been lucky enough to be friends with since we met @ sleep away camp in 1982.
there are so many elements working in harmony in this.. the fade ins & outs, the subtle nods to new england... before he made the video, bill interviewed me about the song and i find new details every time i watch it. it's made with total love and mastery...
i especially love that he included sylvester & mr. beasley, who left our family in 2020 & 2022. we miss the shit out of both of them so much. it’s a gift to have them forever immortalized here.
